Press triangle to use Princess Cecille or Legatus Laendur's magic. Pressing up + triangle or down + triangle changes the spell you cast and each time an Exemplar attacks an enemy you recover a little bit of mana.

Sacred gemstones empower Cecille and Laendur with forgotten magic. When equipped, this enchanted jewel changes one of your default spells to the spell contained in the gemstone. You can earn spell gemstones by finding certain tributes in the game.

Cecille's Spells[edit | edit source]

Cassandra's Coil[edit | edit source]
Cassandra's Coil

Fires three bolts of pure energy at the foremost enemy.

The goddess Cassandra peered into the blinding light of a distant sun. She dissected the elements and watched as the electrons danced from one atom to the next. She gazed as the star's mass collapsed into its core. With fervor in her eyes, she examined the bursting sun and how its untamed energy engulfed nearby worlds. Cassandra was pleased as she gained the knowledge to do this herself.

Cassandra's Lunacy[edit | edit source]
Cassandra's Lunacy

Consumes all of Cecille's magic meters to summon the goddess Cassandra to the battlefield. Does additional damage depending on how many magic meters are full.

Followers of Cassandra are aware her quest to cure her madness is a paradox. The goddess' unquenchable thirst for knowledge is what drove her insane. Devout priests do not ignore this fact, but rather embrace it through the Lumen Doctrine. This reads, "Those that ruminate on why Cassandra continues to desire knowledge will descend into madness with her."

Devon's Wager[edit | edit source]
Devon's Wager

Debilitates enemies with a wave of debuffs. May have additional effects...

No soldier can fight forever and Mortyyn had a twisted way to deal with deserters. Anyone caught abandoning Mortyyn's legion would be brought to an academy with neophyte soulmancers. The fate of the deserter would depend on the lesson of the day. Would it be channeling frigid winds? Making flames dance? Or bending gravity to crush a person's bones? Nobody knew what the punishment would be so this rite was given a name – Devon's Wager.

Elysia's Blessing[edit | edit source]
Elysia's Blessing

Recovers a medium amount of HP for all Exemplars.

Durant, a soulmancer who specialized in the healing arts, was summoned to a remote hamlet. When he arrived he saw his patient, a father chained to a bed with blood dripping from his eyes. Durant channeled a green light from Elysia into the frail patient. Vitality poured through the sickly man's veins and he tore off the iron chains. His son burst into the room and tackled Durant to the ground, but it was too late. With his vigor restored, the malignant man clawed at Durant until he collapsed.

Lucid Vision[edit | edit source]
Lucid Vision

Removes debuffs from all Exemplars and increases critical attack chance for 5 seconds.

Tarquinius raised his shield and deflected an axe thrown by the Minotaur standing before him. He blocked a second, but the third flew right into shoulder. The beast growled as it lunged forward and crushed his legs. Tarquinius expected to wince in pain, but to his surprise he had a surge of focus. Fueled by newfound clarity, Tarquinius gathered unforeseen strength and thrusted his halberd into the monster.

Spectral Gash[edit | edit source]
Spectral Gash

Pierces the rear enemy with ghastly blades and makes the foe startled.

It is a rite of passage for a general to send their comrades into a hopeless battle. While most generals avoid the frontlines in those situations, General Imara led the charge against an orc onslaught. She stood with her legion and then she stood alone. Snarling at Imara's last stand, an orc raised its hammer above her head. Suddenly, blades rose from the ground and eviscerated the brute. Swords controlled not by soldiers, but fallen friends gave General Imara the Pyrrhic victory she hoped for.

Soulmancy[edit | edit source]
Soulmancy

Revives one fallen Exemplar.

Unlike our plane of existence which is made of matter, soulmancy draws from a plane built of ideas and emotion. A soulmancer draws from this alien realm, but factors from our plane including human perception, location, air temperature, and the position of the moon influence the form created when soulmancy is invoked.

Swift Accelerando[edit | edit source]
Swift Accelerando

Increases attack speed for all Exemplars and amplifies magic damage after a critical hit for 10 seconds.

This uplifting tune was often played at weddings until Prince Montlia chose the song for his. While the orchestra strummed each note, a rival legion led by Prince Straebo marched until they reached the altar door. Straebo knocked with his axe and cordially asked to join. Prince Montlia came to greet him and with one deft blow from Straebo's axe Prince Montila's life swiftly came to an end.

Tarquinius Courage[edit | edit source]
Tarquinius Courage

Instantly restores stamina for all Exemplars and temporarily prevents Exemplars from enemy knockback.

"Brothers and sisters stand firm," Tarquinius cried to his legion. "Do not fear the number of foes that stand before us. Do not fear the sting from a manticore's tail. Do not even fear death itself. Draw from the might within and strike, then strike again until your enemy is battered before you!"

Wildfire[edit | edit source]
Wildfire

Burns random enemies with a powerful fire blast.

"Keep away from the Khalcdon bog, Said a margrave lurking in the fog. 'Cause your soul is a magnifier For the hydra's wildfire - Fenumian children's rhyme

Laendur's Spells[edit | edit source]

Brywnish Blade[edit | edit source]
Brywnish Blade

Creates a sonic energy wave that hits all enemies.

Avia, a Bywrnish general from the ancient city of Tyr, was fascinated with drakes. She watched the magnificent lizards fly overhead and dreamt of soaring in the skies. Every day Avia would rise at dawn and mimic how drakes flew with her blade until one day a swift slash cut the wind itself. The beam from her sword danced behind the drakes before cutting the entire flock into two.

Bywwdi's Blessing[edit | edit source]
Bywwdi's Blessing

Recovers a little HP for all Exemplars and adds regeneration for 10 seconds.

"Nyier lagata enta sommnia" or, in the common tongue, "All creation is born from diligence and patience." Bywwdi Haf said this ancient Byrwnish proverb during bad harvest years to restore hope to tired farmers. The saying has taken a different meaning these days. Generals recite Bywwdi's words to rally their legion and remind them persistence is the cornerstone to victory.

Dafydd's Spear[edit | edit source]
Dafydd's Spear

Hits a random enemy with Daffyd's mythical spear. Does additional damage if an enemy is defenseless.

A Byrwnish legend says Dafydd skillfully guided his legions to force Mortyyn in the Blighted Cave. Dafydd, pleased that his trap worked, stormed in with confidence. Mortyyn struck first, binding Dafydd to the ground with an apparition of ghastly hands. Dafydd smirked as Mortyyn hungrily lurched towards him. Staring at his nemesis eye to eye, Dafydd punched the ground and created a stone spear that impaled them both.

Fracture Fortissimo[edit | edit source]
Fracture Fortissimo

Renders all foes defenseless for 5 seconds.

Ages before Iria was absorbed into Fenumia's Empire, the snowy village was protected by a great wall. Slain soldiers were buried at its base so their spirits could continue to protect their home. When Fenumia sought Iria's rich palladium mines the Emperor did not send an army. Instead, a lone Fenumian bard, lute in hand, arrived at the wall and strummed Fracture Fortissimo. Before the song was finished the wall collapsed and the bard, slyly smiling, disappeared in the mountains.

Latent Lightning[edit | edit source]
Latent Lightning

Shocks the rear enemy with lightning and may inflict paralysis.

Parduc is a land plagued by thunderstorms. When lightning crashes to the ground the Avalon Spellweavers, a sect of the March Congress, rush to the fields to catch a bolt on their rod. Most that join the rite are killed, but those that survive when the heavens grace their staff learn to bend lightning to their will.

Psyche Devourer[edit | edit source]
Psyche Devourer

Drains HP from all Exemplars to summon Death.

There was silence in the streets when General Camillus returned to the capital in a lavish coffin. Before he could rest March Convictolitavis Manse said to the Emperor she could resurrect the heroic general. Using an experimental form of soulmancy, Manse plucked General Camillus' soul from the void and attached it to his corpse. Camillus rose and gazed into a mirror, but all he could see was the macabre face of death staring back.

White Stacatto[edit | edit source]
White Stacatto

Briefly makes all Exemplars invulnerable.

Before the Age of Soulmancy, there is said to be a lost art that could alter reality. The March Congress has been studying the sparse artifacts from this civilization for more than a century and discovered this melody that can make soulmancy imbued objects temporarily blink in and out of existence.
